About the position.
As the Transformation Architect for DevOps Delivery you are a recognised expert in multiple technology domains within the technology space and DevOps software delivery in particular, including also the application of Site Reliability Engineering.
Drawing on your expertise and experience, you will shape, evolve and evangelise the SECTION6 technology vision and software delivery practices to SECTION6 teams, the DevOps community, and the wider market.
Through public speaking, influence, consultancy work and technical leadership you will help major organisations in Australia and New Zealand to set a bold vision for technology and DevOps delivery and practices, and enable SECTION6 teams to deliver it.
Core competencies and responsibilities
The Transformation Architect (DevOps) position is a broad role of strategic importance for both the SECTION6 business, and SECTION6 customers that requires strong demonstrable experience and acumen across technical, business and people dimensions of DevOps software delivery—scaling from atomic teams to large multinational organisations with hundreds of software delivery teams.
Your skills, experience and personal brand will be instrumental in advancing SECTION6 and customer strategic objectives and capabilities through the following activities:
- Work as a strategic partner to aspiring technology and business leaders, helping them navigate uncertainty and risk to make informed decisions.
- Provide architectural, technical and engineering leadership guidance to SECTION6 teams and customer stakeholders.
- Help SECTION6 teams and customers define key measures for DevOps software delivery teams, and implement supporting tools, practices and processes that ensure the achieving of defined delivery measures.
- Contribute in a hands-on capacity to software delivery engagements in marquee customer accounts, and SECTION6 internal projects that further the SECTION6 strategy and vision.
- Work with SECTION6 teams to define, implement and promote a modular and adaptable set of technology practices, processes and tools in alignment with the SECTION6 strategy to provide a strong base of sensible defaults for SECTION6 teams into customers.
- Evaluate emerging practices and tools within the context of market trends to help inform SECTION6 technology and business strategy.
- Work with the Head of Engineering and the Head of People to support SECTION6 teams in building a generative culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
- Identify and grow SECTION6 staff with grit, talent and propensity for action to become the next generation of technology leaders through mentorship and talent development.
- Help establish and strengthen the SECTION6 Communities of Practice program for knowledge sharing, and greater SECTION6 team effectiveness in customer engagements.
- Lead and coordinate internal tech conferences within the SECTION6 Communities of Practice program on a quarterly and semi-annual basis.
- Help in establishing a ubiquitous language for SECTION6 teams to use internally and achieve greater effectiveness and alignment across engagements.
- Be a spokesperson for the SECTION6 and actively promote the SECTION6 brand and vision to customers, prospects, the SECTION6 teams and the wider community.
- Work closely with SECTION6 sales and delivery teams to create and progress new opportunities across existing and new customers.
- Coordinate, host and speak at public events, including, but not limited to, industry conferences, SECTION6 webinars, and community meetings.
- Author, review and publish technology and DevOps delivery related articles and blog posts on internal and external platforms.
- Work with our people team to build and promote the SECTION6 employment brand to enable the SECTION6 People Team to attract and retain top talent.
- Conduct technical presentations, demos, proof of concepts and present other sales and marketing collateral.
- Contribute to business proposals, functional and technical specifications and other documents where required.
- Clearly and effectively communicate ideas, concepts and vision to stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite.
- Identify and capitalise on opportunities to augment and advance customer strategy.
- Demonstrate an ability to think outside the box and a willingness to challenge the customer’s thinking in a constructive manner.
