The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity available for a highly skilled critical thinker with strong leadership skills to join our newly created Transportation team and take on the challenge of building a cohesive and effective team tasked with developing and implementing Council's transportation capital works programme.

You will oversee the establishment of new asset management systems and processes to inform robust decisions and direct the delivery of asset renewal and improvement projects.

Your key responsibilities will include

• Working with our Transportation Director to deliver on Council's aspirations to be paragon of road management and maintenance.
• Recruiting and leading a skilled, collaborative team which values creativity and experimentation.
• Administering the financial budget for asset management activities and the capital works programme.
• Managing Council's roading assets to achieve best value for money over whole of life.
• Overseeing the development and adoption of transportation strategies, plans, policies, and bylaws.
• Ensuring that Council's RAMM database is maintained with current and accurate information.
• Championing asset management best practices within the Transportation team and across the wider Infrastructure Group.

To set you up for success, you'll

• Be familiar with the mechanics of local government.
• Possess thorough knowledge of infrastructure asset management practices and principles.
• Have previous experience delivering large complex infrastructure renewal and improvement programmes.
• Be a passionate and energetic leader and mentor who leads by example.
• Be a strong collaborator able to build trust and influence stakeholders.
• Possess keen financial and commercial acumen, and the ability to apply accounting principles to asset management, and
• Have a proven track record of leading strategic initiatives and long-term planning.
