We are looking for a registered mental health professional (social worker, psychologist, counsellor, AOD practitioner, mental health nurse) to lead our Whānau Pai (primary mental health) team.
Interested applicants must have a current annual practicing certificate as a registered professional in one of the above disciplines, and FULL registration with their professional body - provisional registration will not be considered.
The Whānau Pai Team Lead is responsible for providing positive leadership, mentoring and line management to the Whānau Pai team, ensuring a high quality of primary mental health services. The Whānau Pai Team Lead will promote a positive team environment working with the Poukura Hinengaro to proactively drive change and support professional service delivery, ensuring all processes are consistent, of the highest quality and reflect best practice. This role will be based in Thames but will be required to provide locum Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) service delivery, upon completion of HIP training, when needed at a variety of GP practices across the rohe, with one day per week dedicated to being in clinic.
Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) training will be provided as a matter of course. is responsible for delivering brief consultation and evidence-based behavioural interventions to individuals, groups, and families/whanau for both mental health and physical health conditions in people of all ages. The HIP provides support to the general practice teams and enhances the capacity to respond to presenting primary mental health concerns. The HIP engages in using an integrated ‘Stepped Model of Care’ that supports whanau needs and support them to move between services.

We need someone who is highly engaged and passionate about working with our whānau in a kaupapa Māori environment, you are expected to be comfortable in traversing four worlds-te ao Māori/te ao Pākehā/clinical and non-clinical. The successful candidate will need to be committed to achieving health equity and driving quality improvement to ensure better health outcomes for all and especially our Māori whānau in Pare Hauraki.
