This is an exciting full-time opportunity for a mechanically minded person who is innovative and wants to do more than repair equipment in a workshop situation.
Come join our Tauranga team of technicians and therapists working in wheelchair and seating provision with people of all ages and abilities. What we do makes a difference to how people are able to participate in everyday life!
The technician role involves but is not limited to the following:
- Annual servicing of disability equipment such as wheelchairs, hoists, hospital beds and shower chairs
- Repairs on a diverse range of wheelchairs and disability equipment
- Adjusting and modifying both manual and power wheelchairs to suit the client
- Fitting special seating supports alongside therapists
- Some minor fabrication work
You’ll be someone who thrives in a people focused role as you will be required to work independently in people’s homes and in the wider community, not just in the workshop all day! You will need to be comfortable supporting clients across the Waikato region and an effective communicator. You will be working with our clients to keep them moving and enable them to get the most out of their equipment. Excellent training and support is provided.
What you will bring | Nga tohungatanga mo tenei turanga
- 2-3 years in a role where you’ve had hands-on mechanical/electrical experience – this could be from any industry
- An enjoyment of problem solving, being creative and learning new skills
- Being flexible, organised and self motivated
- A passion for putting your skills to work in a role that can genuinely make a difference in the lives of our clients and your community
- You’ll know your way around power/hand tools and think outside the box on how we can meet the needs of our clients
- EAS qualification or equivalent – preferred but not essential
- Ability to use IT at an intermediate level – experience with an asset management and/or job management system would be an advantage
- Full, clean driver’s license – ability to travel distances through the Waikato as needed
- Right to work in NZ
