Workforce Delivery Lead - Youth Primary Mental Health & Addictions

Who we are

Whāraurau works to improve the mental health and wellbeing of infants, children, and youth and those who care for them by providing workforce development within the mental health and addiction sector in Aotearoa. Through UniServices, a wholly owned social impact company of Waipapa Taumata Rau, University of Auckland, we are contracted by the Ministries of Health and Education to grow the capacity and capability of the infant, child, youth and whānau mental health and addictions workforces. We offer a range of online courses, training, webinars and service supports that are government-funded and free to access.

• Permanent 40 hours per week
• National role - can be based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch

The opportunity

Are you an experienced clinician in child and youth mental health and addictions having worked in secondary ICAMH services? Have you managed projects and budgets and delivered impactful workforce training programmes?  Do you have experience providing support to kaimahi in youth primary mental health and addictions services?  If yes, we want to hear from you!

Whāraurau seek an experienced and passionate Workforce Delivery Lead to facilitate and lead the activity that supports our Mental Health and Addictions programmes.  Initially the role will support the Youth Primary programme as well as support other programmes’ deliverables.  Flexibility will be key to work across varied mental health and addictions programmes.  You will plan, provide resources, deliver and report on these workforce delivery activities, to enhance capability of the ICAMH, NGO and Primary workforces across communities.  These programmes will support the development of knowledge and skills of those in the sector. 

Ideally you will have experience in infant, child, and youth mental health, and working with whānau and communities.  You will apply your clinical expertise in mental health and addictions while showcasing strong project management and service delivery skills.  This is a great opportunity to work for a positive and passionate purpose, whilst gaining exposure to national projects of significance that genuinely make a difference.

Key responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of training, facilitation and delivery of Whāraurau work programmes.
• Engage actively with the mental health and addiction sector.
• Manage planning, co-ordination and delivery of project work.
• Produce and coordinate financial reporting.
• Lead and collaborate with sub-contractors.
• Gather and report on sector intel to mitigate risks.
• Provide key stakeholder management with the mental health and addiction sector.
• Ensure principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi are supported and implemented in delivery of service.

It is essential for you to hold:

• A clinical qualification with a relevant tertiary degree in mental health, health or education.
• 5 years minimum workplace clinical experience in secondary ICAMH services.
• Experience with tamariki and taiohi (child and youth) wellbeing, addiction and or mental health services in Aotearoa.
• Understand Māori & Pacific approaches to wellbeing, and a commitment to promote positive outcomes for tangata whenua and pacific communities.
• Track record of effective project and stakeholder management.
• Evidence of budget management.
• The ability to travel nationally with potential for weekly travel when required.
