Job Description - Workforce Development Lead

Title: Workforce Development Lead


Location: Dunedin


FTE: 1.0 (37.5 hours per week)

Position Purpose:


The Workforce Development Lead provides portfolio leadership and coordination for workforce development initiatives across WellSouth and the wider primary care sector within the Southern region.



The role acts as a central point of integration for workforce development activity delivered across multiple teams and programmes within WellSouth. This includes strengthening workforce development pathways, coordinating education initiatives, supporting workforce planning, and ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and regional health system needs.


 


The Workforce Development Lead works collaboratively with clinical leaders, programme teams, tertiary education providers, and sector partners to strengthen workforce capability and sustainability across the primary care workforce.



What are we looking for:



  • A relevant tertiary qualification in health, workforce development, education, or a related discipline.

  • A Postgraduate qualification is desirable.

  • 7-8 years’ experience in a related position.

  • Ability to deal with unexpected situations and circumstances while maintaining a professional manner.

  • Understanding of adult learning and education pedagogy.

  • Experience in workforce development, workforce planning, education leadership, or health sector programme management.

  • Strong understanding of the New Zealand primary health sector.

  • Experience developing or coordinating workforce development initiatives or training programmes.

  • Experience working with tertiary education providers and sector partners.

  • Experience supporting health workforce programmes or sector initiatives desirable.

  • Ability to manage complex initiatives across multiple stakeholders.
