JOB SUMMARY:
The Youth Navigator works closely with young individuals to assist them in overcoming obstacles and achieving their personal, educational, and career goals. They provide guidance, advocacy, and connections to resources to empower youth and help them become self-sufficient and successful.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assessment and Goal Setting:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of the needs, strengths, and goals of youth clients.
Collaborate with youth to set clear and achievable short-term and long-term goals.
Resource and Referral:
Identify and connect youth with essential services and resources, such as education, healthcare, housing, counselling, and job training programs.
Maintain a network of community organizations and service providers for referrals.
Mentorship and Support:
Offer one-on-one mentoring and emotional support to help youth build self-confidence and resilience.
Assist with problem-solving and decision-making, especially in critical life situations.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of client interactions, consultations, and outcomes.
Prepare reports for funding agencies and stakeholders as required.
Advocacy:
Advocate for the rights and needs of youth when dealing with educational institutions, government agencies, or other service providers.
Help youth navigate complex systems and understand their legal rights.
Education and Career Planning:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or experience in social work, psychology, counselling, or a related field.
Experience working with youth in a similar capacity is preferred.
Knowledge of local community resources and youth services.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Empathy, patience, and the ability to connect with and inspire young individuals.
Understanding of issues facing at-risk youth, including those related to poverty, homelessness, substance abuse, or involvement with the justice system.
