Youth Worker/Kaimahi Taiohi

Reconnect Family Services works with a range of young people with high and complex needs, offering a number of programmes that provide care & protection and youth justice services.  We believe in reconnecting children and young people to make a positive contribution to whānau, community and society.

We are looking to appoint energetic, reliable, and driven Youth Workers within our community based programs. in these programs you will be working one to one with Rangatahi on a daily basis, encouraging, supporting and motivating them to participate in making change and learning new skills they can take with them on their journey into adulthood.  

The roles are full time and are there to support young people all across the Auckland region.

We would like you to have:

• Strong relationship building abilities and the ability to work within a team
• A drive to connect rangatahi to their culture and whakapapa
• Skills/understanding around Te Ao Māori (a Māori world view), tikanga, Te Reo Māori are an advantage
• Good oral and written communication skills
• An affinity for our client base
• Resilience, empathy, and understanding 
• A can-do attitude and desire to learn
• Understanding of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi
• Experience in the industry is preferred but not a must-have. Some of the best Youth Workers make the move into the industry because of their own life experience. If this is you, we'd still love to see your application.
• A full driver's licence and satisfactory Police and Oranga Tamariki vetting checks are a requirement for the role.
