Job Description - Analyst

Bathurst Resources Ltd currently operates Opencast Mines in New Zealand. Our mines are located 35 km north of Westport and also the Waikato region. We own New Zealand's largest mines with a long history of coal production and produce high value coal for export to the world's leading steel makers along with supporting New Zealand coal requirements through out domestic operations. GIS Analyst Project Resource Development Team – All Operations The Role: Reporting to the Export Projects Manager, and working directly under the Land, Mineral and Permitting Senior Geologist, this role provides GIS data management and GIS support for Bathurst resources operations, projects and environmental teams. Your social skills and ability to work with others will shine, as you will engage with staff across the company in a wide variety of roles across all company sites and offices. The successful candidate will ideally have recent experience with a GIS database, providing high quality and timely GIS geological, environmental, civil and mining plans. You will have had a similar position and be looking for an opportunity to join a progressive team to develop their skills and experience. The successful candidate will ideally be based in Christchurch or Westport. This role will be working across both North and South Island sites and will need to travel between Bathurst sites in both the North and the South Island. Key duties will include: • Providing timely plans to the corporate, projects, environmental, geological and operational teams • Augmentation and updating of our GIS database with spatial information sourced from Technical Data Archives including scanning, geo-referencing, digitising, vectorising and data entry of geological data, mine engineering plans, mapping of historic underground mine areas, drill holes and technical reports. • Assist with the management of standards relating to the GIS data. • Ensure all GIS data and plans are backed up on a regular basis as per the established GIS records standard. • Assist with GIS data validation to ensure information supplied on plans are referencing relevant and up to date layers • Data Management – Quality Assurance and Quality Control Skills and Requirements: To be successful in the role you will have: • GIS related qualification in geography or computer science • Preferably, BSc – GIS, geography, geology or surveying • 0 -1 years’ experience including training • Experience with GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, MapInfo or QGIS • Current Driving Licence. • Advanced user of Microsoft Office software. • Strong commitment to Safety. • Able to work independently. • Good Analytical ability. • Shows initiative and creativity. • Excellent planning and organising skills. • Ability to work within a dynamic team environment providing timely outputs. Culture & Benefits: This role will work across all Operational sites and can be fulfilled remotely. There will be a requirement for the successful person to travel between sites infrequently to provide on-site support when necessary. This is a full time position, Monday to Friday from 8am to 4.30pm.
