The Opportunity
Looking for more fun and variety in your next career move? The UCSA has the answer with our new Communications & Marketing Coordinator role.
From promoting wellbeing expos one day, to slick corporate catering the next, this new position will work across our teams, connecting us with our stakeholders and promoting our services. This includes charitable work supporting students at Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury (UC) picturesque Ilam campus, and our mahi in the community where the UCSA owns and operates (award-winning!) commercial businesses.
Day to day, you will be assisting in the delivery of the annual communications plan to students, engaging them and raising their awareness of our services (events, clubs, advocacy, representation, and welfare). You will also work on exciting campaigns to support our commercial projects and reach new clients. These include cosy cafés, The Foundry bar, equipment hire, venue hire, two early learning centres for children, and a stake in the UC bookshop. The UCSA is also a proud provider for Ka Ora, Ka Ako | Healthy School Lunches.
About You
We are looking for an all-rounder to join the team: a creative communications and/or marketing wiz who can write and strategize for different audiences and platforms.
To be successful in the role, you will bring a sense of fun, energy, and creativity to the UCSA. You will also have great attention to detail. Due to the nature of the role and the organisation, an affinity for and understanding of students is important.

Established in 1894, the UCSA is a registered not-for-profit organisation that supports UC students to succeed and belong.
Our organisation is governed by an elected Student Executive, and we employ over 220 staff. Together, we dish up a range of student-focused services, including: advocacy and welfare, representation, subsidised dental and optometry, early learning centres, club support, events, and media. We also own a number of commercial entities.
