Mō Tēnei Tūranga Mahi | About the Role

Reporting through to the Executive Dean, Faculty of Education, Humanities and Health Sciences, this position is a pivotal role within our organisation, providing management and leadership to Te Kura Ahu Taonga | IDEAschool across the Hawke’s Bay, and Tairāwhiti campuses, including the delivery of EIT qualifications at partner institutions in China.

Key Responsibilities for the role include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of a strategic IDEA School Annual Plan, achieving performance targets and objectives, as designated, whilst considering the needs of industry and inputs from the IDEAschool staff. 
  • Monitoring and managing income, operational and staffing expenses and resource in accordance with faculty targets.
  • In association with relevant parties, developing programme delivery plans that are consistent with programme aims, philosophy, curricular approach, policies and procedures.
  • Encouraging research and professional development of kamahi across the whole school. Assisting the research group to complete a school research plan and provide support for both emerging and seasoned researchers.
  • Ensuring the School reflects a commitment to high quality education and service, including liaison with relevant stakeholders.
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with external stakeholders, particularly EITs Joint Education Partner, Zhejiang Yuexiu University (ZYU).
  • Providing effective line management, including recruitment and appointment of new staff, orientation, mentorship, probation and performance review and management processes.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A relevant qualification (Master’s or equivalent would be an advantage) 
  • Knowledge and experience of curriculum and programme development within undergraduate and postgraduate arts education frameworks.
  • Proven experience in leadership and management.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with international partners, and in particular the delivery of programmes in China.
  • An understanding of the principles of cultural safety, a commitment to the development of a culturally safe working and learning environment, and a commitment to parity of student success.
  • An appreciation of te reo me ōna tikanga Māori.
