On the birth suite there are 12 birthing rooms, 2 obstetric theatres on birth suite, 9 assessment/ pre-labour beds, 2 acute observation beds and 4 beds in PACU. The Birth Suite is covered 24 hours a day with 2 registrars, a SHO, SMO and a dedicated anaesthetic team. There is a daily elective caesarean section list.

There is a dedicated gynaecology acute list Wednesday and Friday afternoons. The early pregnancy unit is nurse led and run out of the gynaecology assessment unit and is supported by a medical management of miscarriage protocol. We also offer a manual vacuum aspiration (MVAC) service for those women wishing for surgical management who do not require an anaesthetic. This is run though our gynaecology procedural unit (GPU) where other procedures including termination of pregnancy and other gynaecology minor procedures are performed.

There is a team structure for day to day patient care. The afterhours roster is arranged so all nights and weekends are done in a 2-week block to allow for maximum team-based training time. Long days are done outside of this block.
