The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

We are seeking a new Treasurer to join the leadership team reporting to the Group Financial Controller in Finance. This role is pivotal in managing the University’s cash flows, foreign exchange, and funds management, across a diverse portfolio.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a Treasury leader to make a lasting impact at the university by building on our already robust processes whilst supporting our established and respected team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cash Flow Management and Reporting : Manage and report the University’s cash flow, including forecasting, foreign exchange, and funds management. Liaise across all faculties and service divisions to determine operational and capital expenditure funding requirements.
• Treasury Management and Reporting : Manage the University’s cash flow and investment of its operating funds portfolio on a daily basis.
• Balance Sheet Reporting : Assist with preparing the monthly Balance Sheet forecasts and maintain the Balance Sheet forecasting model.
• Annual Report : Prepare note disclosures, working papers and reconciliations in relation to financial instruments and financial risk management.
• Special Projects : Develop and implement an annual project plan for treasury specific projects.
• Compliance Reporting and Risk Management : Regularly report on compliance and manage risks.
• Stakeholder Relationships : Maintain effective relationships with legal and financial services professionals, government departments, and key internal stakeholders.
• Personal / Professional Development : Ensure personal and professional knowledge and development is up to date.

About you | He kōrero mōu

To be successful in this position you will be CA or CPA qualified or hold a relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, economics or similar. You will need to demonstrate a well-developed knowledge and understanding of financial management and investment principals and the application of finance and accounting methodology to a large diverse organisation. This is a specialist role and will require you to have prior experience in the Treasury function within the banking sector or a large commercial operation. You may also come from a strong accounting and finance background and able to point to your practical Treasury expertise gained, for example, as a Treasury Accountant or Analyst and looking to step up to a Treasurer role.

Balancing strong results orientation with superior relationship management skills, you will exhibit excellent analytical skills, have a robust and rigorous approach to decision making and be a proactive and detail focused professional.
