 JOB TITLE
National Refuge Service Delivery Manager: Senior Social Worker (Registered) 

Located: Henderson, Auckland 

 

Shakti's Vision:
"To provide culturally appropriate/competent services as a lead agency for the domestic violence intervention/advocacy, safe house facility for the migrant and the refugee women from Asian, African and Middle Eastern background in Aotearoa, New Zealand."

ROLE:
Provide high level leadership to Shakti's Refuge Service Delivery Nationally in line with Shakti's vision and mission by promoting best practice standards in supporting, servicing and enabling the empowerment of ethnic women and their children in situations of domestic violence.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

  • NZ recognized qualification and registration with New Zealand's Social Work Registration Board.
  • Experience working with the Government Department or NGO set-up
    with women and children in New Zealand or Internationally.
  • Experience in managing crisis intervention.
  • Knowledge of EEO principles and work safety.
  • Proficiency in English Language -verbal and written. Fluency in at least one Asian, Middle Eastern or African language.
  • Be passionate about working with women and children and ensuring their safety while promoting social equality.
  • Good computer skills and the ability to use business support software.
  • Excellent leadership and customer service skills.
  • Strong teamwork skills and attention to detail.
  • Have full Driving License and own vehicle.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership 

  • To plan service delivery in tune with the strategic direction of the organization and maximize the safety of those seeking our Refuge
    services.
  • Implementation of best practice guidelines, developed by (SDETAT + MSD collaboration)
  • Provide leadership, guidance, supervision, and coaching (one-on-one or Group) to the social workers and Regional Refuge Service Delivery Managers.
  • Work cohesively and collaboratively with the Trust and Regional Refuge Service Delivery Managers to develop plans and strategies to achieve a common goal and sustainable outcomes for the organization.
  • Build and enhance a positive work culture across the team, that supports continuous learning and improvement through review of case studies and ongoing feedback.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Monitoring social workers and Refuge Coordinator staff numbers to meet client requirements and demand.
  • Organizational practice standards are kept in accordance with MSD, MOJ and NZQA approval requirements.
  • Meetings – local, regional, and national organized/hosted and documented.
  • Coordinate and support the management of the National Office team and work closely with Regional Refuge Service Delivery Managers.
  • Monitor ongoing cases through Excess Database nationally and provide adequate response to the social workers as needed.
  • The National Refuge Service Delivery Manager must maintain regular communication channels and rapport with all Shakti Woman’s Refuges.
  • Must ensure that staff meetings are held weekly in conjunction with National teams and action points/minutes are documented.
  • Meeting issues and statistics are reported to the General Manager for monitoring and management.
  • Manage monthly meetings with other regional heads for management of Refuge matters and the reporting back of statistics to the General Manager.
  • Travel nationally to do spot check or audit the refuge and client files, so that the staff are well prepared for any MSD audit or other funders audit.

 

Networking

  • Participate in network meetings and conferences aimed at promoting the rights of ethnic women to live free of fear and free of violence and represent Shakti accordingly.

     

Maintaining positive relationships with Stakeholders.

  • To advocate for cultural competency, spread cultural awareness about various ethnic communities, and promote cross-cultural understanding between wider communities.
  • Networking & representing Shakti in domestic violence sector in New Zealand nationally.
