The Sport and Recreation team provides sporting and fitness services to students and staff, allowing them to maintain a healthy lifestyle, participate in sporting competition and socialise with friends while pursuing academic goals. Sports leagues, fitness training and recreation programmes provide opportunities for all students and staff to participate in sport and recreation whilst at University.
Two exciting new sport and fitness facilities were opened in 2020 for the interim period of the Recreation and Wellness Centre construction. These facilities feature brand new spaces and state of art fitness equipment. New staff will have full access and benefits of the new space. Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We are currently seeking a fixed-term Sports Coordinator to play a key role in the wellbeing of our students at New Zealand’s leading tertiary institution, the University of Auckland.
Reporting to the Sports Team Leader, our Sports Coordinators oversee all elements related to the successful delivery of University sports tournaments, leagues, programmes and events. Current portfolios include our Interfaculty Sports Championships, UNIM8S Social Sports Leagues, Inter-residential tournaments, and key sporting events including The Great Waka Ama Race and University Metrogaine.
Sports Coordinators also provide support in managing our University of Auckland representative teams and assisting with their travel and arrangements to compete in the University and Tertiary Sport New Zealand National Championship events.
