2026 Datacom New Zealand - Cybersecurity Work Experience Internship Programme

This is a unique chance to learn, observe and connect with industry experts, developing job-ready skills in one of the most in-demand areas of tech—Cybersecurity.

Placement Details

• Duration: 10 weeks
• Hours: 7.5 hours per week
• Start Date: March 2026
• Locations: Wellington, Auckland, or Christchurch (on-site)

What can I expect during the Placement?

As an intern with Datacom’s Cybersecurity team, you’ll gain exposure to a wide range of cybersecurity disciplines including Cyber Defense Operations, Protective Security, Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), Application Security, OT Security, Project Management, and Security Awareness Training.

In addition to your time with the Cyber team, you’ll also spend time with other areas of the wider Datacom business—giving you a broader understanding of how different teams collaborate and operate in a leading tech environment.

Bonus: CompTIA Security+ or equivalent introductory knowledge.

This is a short-term placement, however if you join Datacom permanently as an Early Career, you'll join our Early Careers Programme. The Early Careers Team will be part of your journey for the first 12 months of your career. Supporting you through Induction, mentoring, events and regularly offering you extra resources and opportunities to help grow your career and connect you with your wider peer group all while you embed in your new permanent role.
