Brand & Communications Intern

Job Description - Brand & Communications Intern

About the role

We are looking for a Brand & Communications Intern to support the Foodstuffs Own Brands team. In this role, you’ll work across both brand marketing and internal communications, helping bring our brands, campaigns, and stories to life. You’ll support the delivery of engaging content, assist with campaign coordination, and play a part in strengthening how we connect with both our customers and our internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Support the creation and coordination of internal communications and engagement activities, including team events and initiatives.
• Assist with building employer brand content by helping share stories across internal channels.
• Assist with campaign coordination, including tracking timelines, organising information, and supporting content delivery.
• Help prepare content for campaigns and always-on brand activity across channels.
• Contribute to basic brand checks and audits to ensure consistency and alignment across content.

About you

You’re a strong communicator with a genuine interest in brands, storytelling, and how to engage different audiences. You enjoy creating content and working across social media and internal communications, and you have an eye for detail when it comes to tone, consistency, and quality. You build relationships easily, are confident engaging with different teams, and bring a positive, can-do attitude to your work. You’re currently studying towards, or have recently completed, a qualification in Marketing, Business Communication, or a related field.

Our internship programme offers

  • 12-weeks paid work at living wage starting in November based in Māngere, Auckland.

  • Renowned learning and development sessions fortnightly.

  • An extensive support network - your People Leader, the Talent Team, a Kaiārahi (mentor) and your fellow interns to help you along the way.

  • The opportunity to tackle real-world business problems that help us achieve our aspiration – to help New Zealanders get more out of life.

  • Modern office spaces with free parking, subsidised lunches, flexible working, weekly supplier tastings and regular celebrations.

  • 5% in store and online discount in our supermarkets.

We’re looking for someone who is interested in discovering their career with us.

You’ll have a curiosity to learn, a knack for problem solving and be ready to get stuck in to making a positive impact on New Zealand communities. You’ll ideally be interested in one of the above areas listed and in our application form, you’ll have the opportunity to indicate your preferred roles (you don’t necessarily need to be studying something that is aligned).

You’ll be working for a New Zealand owned and operated Co-op whose purpose is to help New Zealanders get more out of life.

We have a commitment to be here for our country, here for our people and here for our communities in everything we do, and we provide career opportunities like no other in our industry. We have an unbeatable team of over 25,000 people with a fun and inclusive culture where you feel like you belong. We work with some of New Zealands most treasured and iconic brands with over 350 PAK’n’SAVE, New World, Four Square, Gilmours and Liquorland stores across the North Island
