Intern Application 2025-26

Emirates Team New Zealand is on the lookout for high achieving students to complete a 10 week, 400 hour, internship with us.

The internships we offer are funded by Callaghan Innovation R&D Experience Grants which place limitations on the eligible students. No internships outside of these are offered at this time.

Areas of interest include software (e.g. web design using React), mechatronics (range of potential projects and scope), mechanical, data analysis and mechanical design.

• Studying, or has recently completed, an undergraduate or postgraduate degree or qualification at NZQA level 6-10. If the study has been completed, the closing date of their final semester should be less than 12 months ago.
• By the start of the internship, have at a minimum completed all the required 300 level papers for your course (the further through your study, the better!)
• Studying, or has studied, science or engineering at a New Zealand tertiary education institute.
• Preference for students studying Software, Mechatronics, Engineering Science, Mechanical BE(Hons) degrees
• Legally permitted to work in New Zealand.
• Has not been previously employed by us, unless part-time or temporary.
• Has not previously undertaken more than one internship with us.
• Working in the office, located in Wynyard Quarter in Auckland.

The dates are flexible - typically students begin their internships shortly after their final exam in November. If you have completed your studies midway through the year then the internship can begin earlier. There will be a break over Christmas and New Years but the 10 weeks of work can generally be distributed in a way that suits you. The internship must be completed by the end of March 2026.
