THE OPPORTUNITY

Join the future of farming with Pāmu’s January 2027 Apprenticeship Scheme. Gain hands-on experience in both dairy and livestock farming, earn industry-recognised qualifications, while in full-time employment.

Over the first year, you'll work, live, and learn on dairy and livestock farms across the Central North Island. Your home base will be just outside Taupō, with opportunities to gain skills in different farm environments.

You'll receive support to achieve your Level 3 and 4 New Zealand Apprenticeship in Agriculture, guided by experienced farmers and industry specialists. Plus, a dedicated Apprenticeship Scheme Manager will help you balance learning, work, and life.

ABOUT YOU

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. You do not need to have grown up on a farm, but we are looking for people who have had some experience working on a farm or in a similar hands-on outdoor environment. This could be through paid work, helping out, school, or study.

You may:

• Have some experience on a farm, lifestyle block, orchard, vineyard, or in another practical outdoor setting

• Have gained experience through school, training, or study

• Be starting your career or looking for a new direction

• Be keen to build your skills and give farming a real go

You must be:

• 16 years or older

• Able to live near Taupō in Pāmu-provided shared housing

• Motivated, reliable, and able to work well in a team

• Open to learning new skills and using new technology

• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather

• Committed to safety and good farming practices

• Ideally have a restricted or full driver’s licence, or be working towards getting one by January 2027.
