Summer Internship - Reliability Engineering (mechanical, electrical or mechatronics)

What you'll be doing;

As a summer intern with Meridian Energy, you'll get the opportunity to work on some of New Zealand's most iconic hydro and wind generation assets, as well as being active in all aspects of the company. The programme will push you to develop real-life business and technical skills.

We only take a small number of interns each year, and we only want the best! In return we’ll make sure you get some great hands-on experience. You’ll be trusted with owning significant projects, and will be supported by a friendly team of experts along the way,  who will help develop your knowledge, skills, and professional profile.

This position will be based in Twizel, in the pristine Mackenzie Country District. 

What you’ll get?

You’ll gain practical, hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector by applying your academic knowledge to real-world challenges. You’ll work on asset performance and condition monitoring, using tools like Root Cause Analysis and FMEA to solve equipment issues and enhance the reliability of hydro and wind generation systems. The internship offers exposure to industry-standard software, multi-disciplinary collaboration, site visits, and the inner workings of New Zealand’s energy infrastructure. By the end of the programme, you’ll have developed strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, laying a solid foundation for a career in asset management, energy systems, or maintenance engineering.

This programme may also open the door to limited opportunities within our Graduate Programme, though placement is not guaranteed.
