Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.

Our Patient Services Department is seeking a dedicated and enthusiasticTrainee to join our team in Hamilton. This is a fixed-term, part-time position (50 hours per fortnight), commencing 12 October 2026 through to 23 May 2027. In addition to the rostered 50 hours per fortnight, you will also be required to work occasional public holidays and weekends as part of the roster.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a patient-focused healthcare environment. Working alongside an experienced and supportive team, you'll develop practical skills in workplace drug testing and specimen collection while building confidence in delivering high-quality patient services.

If you are not currently registered with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand, we will support the successful candidate to work towards registration and qualification as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician within two years of employment
