About us

Honey Sundays is a coffee & surf retail store, offering specialty coffee -Allpress Espresso, smoothies, cabinet food, alongside a surf retail element, focusing on supporting and creating a space for independent brands.

Our retail includes Le Noel Surf craft custom surfboards, shaped out of Gisborne, Le Noel specialises in traditional board craft and classic designs. As well as curated options of independent NZ & Australia brands such as Fondu Swim, Lady Waves, Cold Wave, TCSS, Jordan Griffin, Pineline Fins, Sticky J, and more!

We opened in March 2023, and are well established in Herne Bay community as one of the top places to grab a brew, which means we can get very busy so 2+ years experience as a barista is a must for this role! 

We pride ourselves on delicious coffee and a calm relaxing atmosphere - bringing the beach to the 'burbs.

Your experience:

• Have 2+ years experience working as a barista in a busy café.
• Exceptional coffee skills and knowledge.
• We are well known for how we prepare our coffee, we're looking for experience alongside the willingness to learn & prepare beverages our way.
• Experience working quickly and efficiently in a busy cafe environment.
• Be a cafe hustler! Show initiative, prioritise tasks under pressure.
• Proven experience working with a specialty coffee.

The role will have approx 20-25 hours a week across 3-4 days, this includes the occasional weekend day. 

We're looking at a start date the beginning of July, but can be flexible for the right person. Management experience isn't essential, but a friendly, enthusiastic personality is a must.

Tasks & responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve a variety of hot beverages, following recipes and Honey Sundays quality standards
• Ensure consistent flavour and presentation of all beverages
• Provide genuine & friendly customer service which reflects our warm, sunny brand
• Stock control and ordering
• Managing the team on days the owner isn't on the floor
• Contribute to rostering of the team
• Set up and pack down the coffee station
• Take customer orders off our POS (using PosBoss/Bustle)
• Great teamwork and a willingness to always learn & improve
• Provide retail knowledge around our retail products Training will be provided
• Participate in all operational aspects of Honey Sundays
