Calling all film fans! Silky Otter Cinemas are on the hunt for talented staff to come and run our team.

About Us:

Silky Otter is a New Zealand owned cinema chain with five locations; Orakei and Ponsonby Central in Auckland, Wigram in Christchurch, Richmond in Nelson and a complex in Palmerston North. We are excited to be opening our next site opening soon in Takanini. 

Far from your average movie theatre, Silky Otter is designed to change the way you enjoy movies. Focused on providing a fully immersive cinema experience from the moment tickets are booked through to when the film is finished. Most importantly, we pride ourselves on being both the friendly local cinema, and the buzzing hive for all things latest in big screen content.

Working at Silky Otter is not just a gig. Whether you’re with us for 4 hours or 40 each week, we are after hard working individuals with a passion for film. Are you studying film or have a background in hospitality? We’re looking for energized people wanting to share their love of cinema with guests, who always look for opportunities to go the extra mile. 

The more practical stuff:

Customer service experience is a must – not necessarily in cinema.

The successful candidate will have experience working within a team in a hospitality environment. An individual who constantly strives to be the best in the biz! They will also have:

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle customer inquiries helpfully and professionally. 
• The ability to cope under pressure.
• Food handling experience plus food prep experience is advantageous, but not required. 
• A commitment to helping Silky Otter be the very best that it can be, embodying our brand values in your work, and setting a great example for your team.
• For Duty Manager applicants: LCQ or General Manager’s Certificate preferred, but not required. Ability to obtain a license is essential.

Hospitability experience highly sought after:

Whether you have experience with any of the following:

• Bar-tending - Pouring wine, beer spirits
• Barista - making coffee
• Waiting Tables - Taking orders, carrying plates, reading dockets

We need those exceptional with service experience to keep our guests satisfied.
