Job Description - Cultural Support Advisor


Te whiwhinga mahi: The opportunity 


We have an exciting new opportunity for a part-time Cultural Support Advisor to have a leading role in strengthening cultural competency for the Nurse Practitioners (NP) Training Support Scheme.



Provide expert cultural mentorship ensuring equitable and culturally safe practice, recruitment, training and support for trainees. Collaborate with Regional Programme Coordinators, the NP Lead, key stakeholders and build and maintain meaningful relationships within our Māori and Pasifika communities.



Join us in championing equitable health outcomes for Māori, Pacific, and priority populations using your passion, and leadership to make a lasting difference across Aotearoa.



This is a permanent, part-time role (18.75 hours per week) involving travel across the Te Manawa Taki region, with flexibility around working hours and base location.



He kōrero mōu: About you 



  • A tertiary qualification in Māori Health, Indigenous Studies, Public Health or similar.

  • Deep understanding of tīkanga Māori, kawa, and mātauranga with recognition by local iwi/hapū.

  • Ability to foster meaningful relationships with whānau, hapū, iwi and Pacific communities, using strong advocacy skills across diverse cultural and professional settings.

  • Proven experience in cultural mentorship or advisory roles within the health, education or social services sector (preferred).

  • Proven experience collaborating across a diverse portfolio and relationship management.

  • Current full drivers’ licence

  • Proficient with Office 365 products and using video conferencing (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Zoom).

  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

  • Adaptable, flexible and resilient.
