Are you friendly, adaptable, and community-minded? Buller District Council is seeking two Customer Services Officers to be the welcoming faces of our Reefton office. This is more than just a customer service role – you’ll be helping locals, supporting Council services, assisting visitors, and occasionally lending a hand at the library or Reefton Theatre!

What Will You Do? | Ka aha koe?
As a Customer Service Officer, you’ll be the welcoming face and helpful voice of the Council, providing exceptional customer service and high-quality administrative support to internal departments. This role plays a key part in helping us serve the residents, visitors and ratepayers of our beautiful district with professionalism, respect, and care.

Key Responsibilities include:
•    Deliver top-quality customer service and admin support for a wide range of Council services.
•    Assist residents with dog registrations, rates enquiries, and other Council processes.
•    Provide accurate and friendly information to visitors about the Reefton region.
•    Support our Library team with shelving, displays, and community events.
•    Perform cashiering duties, ensure payments are processed accurately, and handle enquiries.
•    Keep our shared spaces clean and welcoming.

We’re seeking someone who is:
•    People-focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven customer-service in a tourism or
      library environment.
•    Stays calm under pressure and is professional in all circumstances.
•    Enjoys working both independently and as part of a close-knit team.
•    Has a knack for organisation, time management, and multitasking.
•    Is confident using computers and willing to learn Council systems.
•    Has some knowledge of Reefton’s local attractions (or a willingness to learn fast!)
