Duty Manager - Urgent Role - Part-Time

Jaba Grill and Bar is rated as Christchurch’s number one steakhouse and has been successfully operating from its central CBD venue since 2018. We seat a range of guests from international visitors to local regulars, the head spend is high and therefore expectations of excellent service are too. We are looking for a Duty Manager to lead and manage our Front of House operations.

Ideally you will have experience in a similar role, a passion for exceeding our diners expectations and great knowledge of food and beverages. We are looking for someone who has the enthusiasm that will inspire our small team of restaurant and beverage superstars.

This is a hands-on role which requires leadership skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure whilst leading a busy restaurant and bar team to ensure exceptional service.

The successful candidate will have experience as a Duty Manager and responsibilities in a supervising position. This is a permanent full time role.

In this role you will:

• Delegate tasks to restaurant staff and supervise their performance
• Maintain a fully-stocked inventory and order front of house supplies, as needed and coordinate with suppliers.
• Maintain a stocked inventory while keeping costs to a minimum
• Manage dining reservations
• Help staff resolve on-the-job challenges
• Track daily costs and revenues
• Balance the cash register at the end of the shift
• Ensure client satisfaction and gracefully handle any complaints
• Open or close the restaurant (when responsible for the first or last shift)
• Report maintenance and training needs
• Ensure restaurant is tidy and clean at all times

Requirements

• 3 years experience in F&B service
• A current Managers Certificate
• Previous supervisor experience preferred
• Excellent communicator
• Exudes attentive, friendly and professional service
• Excellent wine, beer and cocktail knowledge
• Highly organised and plans ahead
• Can work on a rotating roster 6 days a week
• Candidates must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand to be considered for the role. This is not suitable for those looking for sponsorship.
