As we embrace the virtual realm and adapt to 'work from anywhere' settings, we are seeking a health promoter with proven experience to lead our work with Māori, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a virtual setting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, problem-solving ability, and engagement with diverse population groups, while embodying a service-oriented leadership approach and maintaining integrity and professionalism.

Advanced knowledge of Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori, Matauranga Māori, familiarity with Te Tiriti o Waitangi, the Ottawa Charter, and experience in teaching health promotion are essential requirements. A degree in health promotion or public health, or its equivalent, with practical experience, is preferred. A driver's license and flexibility for occasional travel and varied hours are advantageous.

Purpose of Position

To lead and facilitate some of HPF’s work, especially our workforce development programme, with an emphasis on activities which improve the health of Māori. Considering the evolving technological landscape and the shift to ‘work from anywhere’ settings, online learning will be the primary mode for training the health promotion workforce and its sector. However, when needs arise, and proven to be more effective, in person training and meetings will be held.

Position Overview:

Working in the virtual reality is increasing. The Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand has fully integrated to this setting, whilst retaining options for physical office attendance. This role will lead the development of online courses and organising of workshops (online and in person), and provide strategic advice on Maori health promotion to external partners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

· Leadership and Relationship Management

· Workforce Development, and Other Services

· Change Management

· Organisational Development, Reporting and Management of Budget

Benefits:

Flexible remote work environment.

Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in health promotion efforts.

Collaborative and supportive team culture.

If this resonates with your skills, attributes, and commitment to hauora, we encourage you to apply and be a part of our small but dedicated team at the Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand.  Please submit your cover letter and curriculum vitae to [email protected], no later than 5pm, June 11, 2024.

About Us:

Health promotion works to enable people to enjoy health. The Health Promotion Forum (HPF) takes a broad approach to health promotion and is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, improving the determinants of health, and social equity. Hauora is a taonga, a fundamental human right founded on respect for the mana of people. For all people to enjoy their right to Hauora, they need to be treated with fairness and respect, participate in decisions affecting their health, and live in a healthy environment.

HPF is a national umbrella organisation that leads the on-going development of health promotion. HPF’s overall goal is to promote Hauora as everyone’s right. To achieve this, the Forum will develop and offer leadership, develop strategic partnerships and relationships, strengthen the health promotion sector and workforce, and develop as a healthy and sustainable organisation.
