An exciting opportunity exists to join the Hospitality team at NorthTec Tai Tokerau Wānanga based in Whangārei to deliver our Cookery Trades academy and STAR courses. 

About the role

Are you passionate about sharing your skills and knowledge developed during your hospitality career?

Are you looking for better work/life balance, with a supportive, experienced teaching team?

This role involves teaching entry level skills in cookery and hospitality, to secondary school akōnga and those wanting to increase their skills in a commercial kitchen.

This is a part-time role working 15 hours per week (Monday, Thursday, Friday generally), starting as soon as possible and ending 8 November 2024. 

About You

You’ll be a qualified chef (preferably with an adult teaching qualification), with a passion for inspiring young people interested in cookery as a profession plus:

• Experienced in commercial hospitality operations and cookery, with an excellent supportive attitude.  
• As we offer practical learning activities, good communication and coordination skills are essential
• An understanding or desire to learn Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori, and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori
• Evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplaces/environments
