Intersex Ambassador - Part-Time

The Intersex Ambassador reports to the Business Manager and is responsible for engaging across the intersex community with a specific focus on online engagement. 

Location: Remote/ Work From Home (seek forces us to select a location)

Pay: 30-35 depending on experience with a yearly pay review. 

Hours: 25 hours per week 

Responsibilities

Community Support

• Respond to enquiries from intersex persons, whānau, and advocates 
• Make referrals to health practitioners, community advocates, and others as needed 
• Facilitation of groups 
• Provision of support, information, and resources

Community Engagement

• Identify opportunities for community building activities and initiatives.
• Coordinate community engagement events under direction from Business Manager
• Collaborate and network with key stakeholders to strengthen community relationships and reduce silo-ed behaviours
• Work with other staff to provide social media presence consistent with communications strategies, social media strategies and policies.

Overview 
This is a permanent role intended to create lasting change for intersex peoples across Aotearoa New Zealand.  The intersex ambassador will be the key point of contact for most enquiries to Intersex Aotearoa.  This will include responding to intersex persons and their whānau.
You will work closely with the Business manager to enact our strategic goals.  This role will require travel across Aotearoa New Zealand for events, team meetings, and conferences, so flexibility is important.  
Intersex Aotearoa aims to be the peak body supporting intersex/ira tangata.  To achieve this, we want to create a team which is supportive, collaborative and intentional in creating a future for intersex/ira tangata which embraces diversity.

Qualifications
NCEA Level 5 or above

Essential

•  Commitment to confidentiality
• Lived experience or closely allied of/with being intersex
• Experience dealing with people on sensitive or highly emotional matters.
• Confident IT user, including excel, PowerPoint, word, email, zoom.

Desirable

• Experience working in community service or non-profit.
