Job Description

We are currently seeking a dedicated Kitchen Hand to join our Food and Beverage team at Oaks Wellington Hotel. In this role, you will assist our chefs in the kitchen, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and efficiency. This part time position primarily involves morning shifts, with occasional evening shifts. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with food preparation and ensure ingredients are ready for cooking.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by washing dishes, utensils, and cleaning surfaces.
  • Assemble and prepare ingredients for cooking, following kitchen guidelines.
  • Pack food and beverage trays for service, ensuring proper presentation and accuracy.

Hourly rate: $24 NZD per hour (excluding KiwiSaver). 

Qualifications

  • A friendly, professional demeanor is essential for creating a supportive and efficient team environment.
  •  Ability to work across a Monday to Sunday roster with both morning and evening shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and follow food safety protocols, ensuring all kitchen tasks comply with health and safety regulations.
  •  A basic understanding of cooking and kitchen processes is beneficial, along with a willingness to learn and assist chefs in food preparation.
  • Able to work efficiently within a team, supporting colleagues and ensuring smooth kitchen operations through good communication.
  •  Accuracy in food preparation, presentation, and cleaning is essential to maintaining our kitchen’s high standards.
