Kitchen Team Member/Cook

Part-time position, with rostered shifts across the week (including weekends).

An opportunity has arisen for a permanent part-time Kitchen Team Member/Cook to join the kitchen team at Ashburn Clinic. The successful applicant will work rostered hours (minimum 24 hours per week including weekends) and be able to cover for other kitchen staff on annual leave, sick leave (often at short notice), and school holidays, as required.

The starting rate for this position is $29.50/hour, depending on your skills and experience.

Ashburn Clinic is a not-for-profit, residential therapeutic community in Dunedin, offering a professional and supportive environment for assessment, treatment and recovery from mental illness and addictions.

About the role:

Our kitchen staff produce healthy food on-site to meet the needs of patients, staff and visitors, including special diets. The kitchen service operates under a Custom Food Control Programme (MPI certified). This position includes cooking and food production, as well as general kitchen hand duties such as cleaning and dishes.

About you:

• You must be able to work confidentially and have experience within a commercial catering environment.


• NZQA Food Safety Certificate is the minimum requirement.


• The ability to work unsupervised is essential.


• A New Zealand resident or holder of a valid New Zealand work visa.
