Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

The Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to teach, coordinate placements, and conduct research on the Postgraduate Diploma in Health Psychology. This programme trains students in the required competencies to function as a psychologist working in health care settings and provides a route to registration with the NZ Psychologists Board. This is a part-time 0.5 FTE position. The primary responsibilities are to teach and coordinate placements for the PGDipHlthPsych. Other duties include conducting research, administrative tasks, and clinical supervision of intern psychologists and academic supervision of Master’s and PhD health psychology students. 

This is for a Permanent part-time, 20 hours per week (0.5FTE) role.
The salary range is $94,981 -$138,721 (full-time equivalent), depending upon skills and experience.

Qualifications

The role will ideally suit an experienced health psychologist or clinical psychologist who has significant experience working in healthcare settings. Having a PhD in health psychology or a related field is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be registered as a psychologist in Aotearoa New Zealand (or registerable), have experience in post-graduate teaching and clinical supervision, and have undertaken research with a track record of peer-reviewed publications.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential:

  • Qualification as a psychology practitioner (PGDipHlthPsyc, Clinical doctorate, or equivalent)
  • Eligibility for registration as a psychologist in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Postgraduate degree (PhD) in Health Psychology or related field.
