Acorn is a community foundation based in the Western Bay of Plenty, whose purpose is to connect people and resources with the aspirations and resources that matter to our community. The community foundation model differs from other forms of philanthropy in that generous locals set up endowment funds to support causes that are important to them. We invest the capital and distribute a portion of the investment returns annually, so that charitable organisations receive money forever from our funds. On behalf of our exceptional donors, Acorn has now contributed more than $16.5M to the WBOP since 2003.
Due to our anticipated very rapid growth, this newly created Management Accountant position will be a pivotal role overseeing financial planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting and day-to-day accounting. In addition, there will be opportunities to be involved with one off projects with the wider team, and you will be the team liaison to the Acorn Investment Committee.
If you are either looking for a challenge at an early stage of your career or are looking to find a role that allows you to be more connected to your community at a later stage, this may be the job for you.
You will work as part of a small team based at The Kollective near Historic Village in Tauranga, which is a vibrant co-working space dedicated to the success of not for profits, social enterprise, and charitable organisations. You will report to the Operations Manager and support the CEO as required, with a salary range from $85,000 - $95,000 FTE.
There is familiarity in the work that needs to be completed but no two days are the same. We anticipate that the base role will require 28 – 32 hours per week, but there is a full-time option with additional systems responsibilities for the right candidate.
