Tauranga Art Gallery (TAG) is a key cultural landmark in Tauranga central. Launched in 2007, our mission is to create exceptional art experiences that engage, inspire, challenge, and educate. We are committed to the development of an exhibition programme and associated experiences that reflect and grows the regional identity.

TAG is presently closed for refurbishment which makes this an exciting time to ensure that our diversified operating model and stakeholders are front of mind when we reopen the doors in mid 2025.

Position Purpose

The purpose of the role is to support the Director and to provide sound financial management and advice. Due to our anticipated rapid growth, this newly created Management Accountant position will be a pivotal role overseeing financial planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting and day-to-day accounting. In addition, there will be opportunities to be involved with one off projects with the wider team, and you will be the team liaison to the Finance Audit Risk Committee.

You will work as part of a small team based at in the city centre. There is familiarity in the work that needs to be completed but no two days are the same. We anticipate that the base role will require 10-20 hours per week.

Position Priorities:

• Comprehensive reporting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting
• review of bank reconciliations and GL transactions 
• End-of-month and annual financial reporting, including summaries that are appropriate for management and the Board
• Manage the GL Chart of Accounts 
• Lead annual audit with oversight from the Director
• Assist the management team or board with additional projects as required

We are seeking an experienced and successful Management Accountant with

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent
• Professional certification with CA or CPA.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in management accounting or similar role.
• Xero experience preferred.
