Job Description - Medical Secretary - Career Growth Potential - Part-Time

We are hiring a reliable Medical Secretary to join our cohesive team at Christchurch Colorectal in Christchurch Central, Canterbury.

Christchurch Colorectal is a busy, growing surgical practice located in central Christchurch. We are home to 12 Surgeons, four Registered Nurses and eight secretarial support staff.

We are currently in search of an exceptional Medical Secretary to join our team. 

You will work alongside a dedicated team of professionals, reporting to our Practice Manager. 

30-40 hours per week, between 8am and 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with some flexibility. We offer a competitive salary, free parking, paid birthday off and other benefits. 

Responsibilities:

  • Secretarial service to doctors
  • Medical transcription, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Reception duties including greeting patients with professionalism and warmth.
  • Assisting with billing and insurance documentation.
  • Performing general administration duties.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience as a Medical Secretary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ten finger touch typing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in Specialist Practice Manager (SPM) preferable but not essential.
  • Professional telephone manner.
  • Ability to operate as a supportive team player.
