Do you want to join a dynamic, Innovative team in the emergency department at Whakatāne hospital? If you have the enthusiasm for providing emergency nursing care in a well-supported environment, then this could be the place for you!

We have permanent part-time and full-time positions available as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency department, working across Monday to Sunday based at Whakatāne Hospital. 

You will join a highly skilled, and supportive team who manage the unique variety of emergency situations presenting at our provincial hospital. This is an exciting environment in which to develop excellence in emergency nursing assessment and planning skills, with support of the emergency department staff. 

Our nursing team consists of nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, an emergency department educator, and clinical coaches. In addition to the nursing support, we work closely alongside a team of senior and junior medical staff. 

He korero mōu - About You

Our preferred candidate will have: 

  • Emergency Department and/or acute care nursing experience 
  • If you don’t have ED experience but have other transferable skills combined with a connection to the Eastern Bay of Plenty then we have a desire to train and grow our people. 
  • A current NZ nursing registration, current practicing certificate or working towards through a Competency Assessment Programme (CAP)
  • Demonstrates, exudes, and embeds behaviours consistent with He Pou Oranga Tāngata Whenua and the Hauora a Toi BOP Manaakitanga values.

  • A commitment to ongoing education to support excellence in emergency nursing
