Security Guard - Rewarding Work - Part-Time

Skills Update Training and Education Group is proudly one of New Zealand's larger private training establishments. We have been operating in the tertiary education sector around the country since 1991 and offer a selection of courses primarily focusing on trades for kiwis. We are funded by the Tertiary Education Commission and are a NZQA Accredited Category One Provider.

We are seeking a diligent and vigilant Security Officer who can preform light handy-man duties when needed to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our premises, assets, staff, students and visitors. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to handle potentially stressful situations with professionalism.

This a part time role, 27 hours per week. 

Monday - Thursday 5pm - 9pm.

Saturday - 8.00am - 3.30pm.

4 hours extra to help out with the campus with light maintenance duties. 

Additional hours may be added when needed. 

Responsibilities:

• Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish a visible presence
• Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances
• Create reports detailing security incidents and breaches
• Conduct security checks over a specified area
• Ensure all safety and emergency procedures are followed
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
• Can do basic repairs
• Knowledge of maintenance tasks 
• Can assemble furniture when required 

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Security Officer or relevant position
• Excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures
• Strong observation skills and attention to detail
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
• Integrity and professionalism
• Green COA
• Must be able to lift up to 20kg
• Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, or hold a current NZ work permit
