Job Description - Strategic Operations Lead - Part-Time

We are seeking a senior Strategic Operations Lead to partner with the CEO and Leadership Team to strengthen the business and attract Series A funding. 

This person would be an integral part of the leadership team, and the role has the scope for substantial professional growth and advancement within the organisation, including ESOP and permanent employment. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a pioneering company's strategic direction and growth trajectory in the novel biomaterials market.

This role is 20 hours a week and is based in Wellington. Remote work would be considered for the right applicant.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

Financial Leadership

  • Manage and analyse financial data, including forecasts and budget management, to support organisational growth. 
  • Collaborate with the Leadership Team to optimise expenses and streamline processes.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to external nance and accounting service providers.

Strategy and Planning

Collaborating with the CEO & leadership team:

  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to develop and refine company strategies.
  • Implement business plans that align with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Recommend and support appropriate organisational structures and hiring plans.
  • Establish comprehensive goals for business performance and growth.
  • Assist the CEO with capital raising activities and company valuation assessments.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee enhancing and implementing company policies and processes, promoting operational excellence.
  • Support the leadership team in ensuring compliance with established policies and processes by all team members.
  • Prepare insightful reports for the CEO and Board and proactively address operational challenges.

People

  • Foster a positive company culture by supporting the mission, vision, and core values.
  • Build strong relationships across the business to encourage collaboration and innovation.

Required Skills and Experience

  • A strong understanding of management and critical business functions.
  • Self-driven, highly organised and efficient.
  • Extraordinary analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Strong, clear and concise written and verbal communication.
  • Previous CFO or COO experience is highly desirable.

Eligibility

  • Be legally permitted to work in New Zealand.
