5 weeks annual leave after two years

Position Purpose:
Proactively working with the Suicide Prevention Postvention Advisor, the primary purpose of this role is to support the Southern Region to have a targeted focus on suicide prevention and postvention through:
Supporting the implementation of any local Southern Suicide Prevention Action Plan as part of the wider New Zealand Suicide Prevention Strategy 2019-2029, He Tapu te Oranga o ia Tangata.
Co-ordinating and facilitating a range of suicide prevention activities designed to reduce the rate of suicides and attempted suicides in the Southern district in conjunction with the Suicide Prevention Postvention Advisor.
Co-ordinating the regions suicide postvention response and activity in conjunction with other key agencies.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across the district.
Leading the implementation of local suicide prevention action plans.
What are we looking for:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced professional who is dedicated to suicide prevention and postvention efforts. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, a strategic thinker, and an advocate for mental health and wellbeing. You will be skilled at building relationships with key stakeholders, coordinating multi-agency responses, and implementing targeted strategies to reduce suicide rates in the Southern region.

About you - To be successful in this role you will:
Hold a relevant tertiary degree in health, allied health or social services, accompanied by relevant experience
Have a full Drivers Licence, as travel in the region is required, often at short notice.
Have had 4-5 years’ experience in the health and/or social services sector.
Have awareness and understanding of the implications of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi to WellSouth as a public health organisation.
Have proven experience and knowledge regarding suicide determinants, as well as prevention, intervention and postvention strategies.
