Job Description - Support Workers - Part-Time

About the opportunity

Support work is a diverse and rewarding career, working alongside people through a range of activities and opportunities.  We are seeking to recruit for Community Choices services (adults over 18 years, living in the community) based around Hamilton and surrounds.

Support workers do the following:

  • help clients set and achieve goals.
  • help clients wash, dress, toilet.
  • support with housework, shopping and budgeting.
  • take clients on outings and help them keep fit.
  • N.B. Duties as a support worker constantly change, no two days will be the same as each disabled person experiences a unique set of challenges, therefore the support needed by one person differs from that of another.

We require fee for service staff, for shorter hours (the hours will be short and could be here, there and everywhere), who would be required in several locations on any given day, working with people that are independent and require minimal support with most things, but would need to support them in cooking, cleaning, driving to appointments (mileage supplied within reason), use of their own car, and you will have a variety of people we work for under your cohort of supported people.

What we offer

  • Professional development and training
  • Supportive environment
  • Pay rates from $23.15 to $28.25 per hour.
  • Friendly teams
  • Refer a friend bonus.
  • Staff benefits card.
  • Life insurance

Having a good understanding of tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti of Waitangi is strongly preferred.

You will need to be reliable, healthy, flexible, passionate about supporting others, and hold a full New Zealand Drivers Licence.
