About the role | Mō te tūranga:
Our Specimen Services department is currently looking for Medical Laboratory Pre-analytical Technicians/Trainees. This is a permanent, part-time position of 40 hours per fortnight, 4hours per weekday (4pm – 8pm). As we are a 24/7 laboratory and our department operates from 4:00 am to midnight, participation in the weekend roster will be required.

Key tasks includes:

• Barcoding, receipting and preparing specimens coming into the laboratory; performing data entry of patient and test details; answering telephones.


• You will work collaboratively as part of the team, work well under pressure, and have an eye for detail and problem-solving ability.
  
  

We are keen to hear from you if you are a Registered Medical laboratory Technician / Pre-Analytical Technician. We also welcome applicants interested in an entry-level Laboratory Trainee role.

About you | He kōrero mōu
We would love to hear from you if you have:

• The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.


• Customer focus and commitment to providing a high quality of service to internal and external customers with effective interpersonal skills.


• A minimum of NCEA level 3 in Science, Maths and English, and/or previous experience in a laboratory setting.


• Diploma in Applied Science, or a Bachelor of Science would be an advantage, but not essential.


• Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practicing Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Pre-analytical Technician in Specimen Services is desirable, but not essential.


• Eligible to work in New Zealand
