Kilmarnock Enterprises is an Ōtautahi Christchurch-based non-profit organisation empowering people with intellectual disabilities to lead rewarding and self-determined lives through employment, training and development. 

 

Job Description: 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Training and Development Assistant to support the delivery of our range of training and development initiatives, which we call the Kilmarnock Employment Pathways Programme (EPP). The EPP covers our pre-employment, employment, health and safety, health and wellbeing, on-the-job and formal training initiatives and transition support services. Our programme is designed to provide a comprehensive support and development pathway for people with an intellectual disability.  

Reporting to the HR, Wellness, & Training Manager, our Training and Development Assistant will work closely with our employees and supervisors to support the implementation and ongoing review of our EPP initiatives. You will also support our management team with a variety of administration tasks. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in human resources, training and development, or disability services and who is passionate about empowering people with intellectual disabilities. 

 

 What will my day look like? 

  • Participate in creating and implementing EPP initiatives and identifying areas for improvement
  • Work with the HR, Wellness & Training Manager and supervisors to ensure employees are up to date with training and compliance expectations
  • Write and submit reporting on training and development activities
  • Document processes and create new documentation and manuals as required 
  • Update and maintain HR records for employees 
  • Support the HR, Wellness &Training Manager in employee induction and feedback meetings
  • Engage with EPP partners, including schools and training providers
  • Respond to employment inquiries 
  • General administration, including scheduling meetings and managing the room booking calendar 

 

We are looking for someone with: 

  • A proactive and positive mindset 
  • A passion for diversity, inclusion and empowerment 
  • Demonstrated experience in a support role
  • Outstanding communication skills 
  • A strong attention to detail 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, experience with databases and Learning Management Systems (LMS) would be an advantage
  • An understanding of HR and/or training principles 
  • Qualification (Certificate, Diploma or Bachelors Degree) in HR, Disability Studies, Social Work, Business Studies or a related field (preferable)
  • Must have the right to work in New Zealand
