Job Description - Visitor Services Co-ordinator (Education) Ref 84

Highwic & Ewelme Cottage - Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland - Permanent Part Time

Do you have a passion for history, and love working with people?

Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga (HNZPT) is looking for a part-time Visitor Services Coordinator (VSC) to join the team at Highwic in Newmarket, Auckland.

In this role you will play a crucial part helping host our visitors, who may be tourists, locals on an outing, people attending an event, or school groups; develop engaging education programmes; help with social media and promotion; and get involved with the day-to-day running of our beautiful heritage properties built in the 1860s. Every day is different!

Alongside the general tasks, you will have a focus on leading the development and delivery of our education programmes, such as coordinating school visits; planning workshops for adults; developing school holiday programmes; booking and hosting group visits. Based at Highwic, the role also involves working at Ewelme Cottage in Parnell on occasion.

Come join us and help present two of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s oldest heritage properties to the public. The properties hold significant historic value, and are deeply connected to both European and Māori heritage.

Our ideal candidate will embrace the role of a kaitiaki, committed to preserving and sharing the history of these extraordinary places. We are looking for a team member who is a great communicator, can take initiative, be self-managing, has strong organisational and administrative skills, is comfortable using social media, and ideally, has teaching or presenting experience.

Excellent communication skills in English are essential, and proficiency in Te Reo Māori, or a desire to learn, is a bonus. If you have a passion for local history, a love of education and a genuine interest in engaging people of all ages, this role could be designed for you!

This is a part-time, permanent position 22.5 hrs p/week working Wednesday to Friday. It includes occasional work on weekends and evenings, as needed and agreed in advance, to support events, functions, and bookings.

The salary range for the position $61,569 - $72,434FTE

Applications for this role close at 5pm on Thursday 12 March 2026

Please note you must have NZ citizenship or a current working visa to apply for this role.
