Database Administrator

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our IT team in Muscat, Oman. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Hadoop, and other open-source databases, along with a solid background in database architecture, high availability solutions, and production support environments.

Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement integrations with new/existing database server setups.

• Drive SQL Server and PostgreSQL best practices in collaboration with Security, Network, and Windows teams.

• Provide 24x7 production support and on-call support for PostgreSQL and other database platforms.

• Coordinate incident response with various technical teams for major incidents.

• Configure high-availability solutions: Always On, Log Shipping, Mirroring, Replication, Clustering.

• Lead regular Disaster Recovery drills to ensure system readiness.

• Apply security patches and hotfixes in accordance with company policies and Microsoft quarterly updates.

• Perform database server installations and upgrades following IT standards.

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of overall IT experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in database administration.

• Minimum 3 years supporting open-source databases like PostgreSQL, Hadoop, and MongoDB.

• Strong knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions.

• Experience with production environments and critical support scenarios.

• Familiarity with database performance tuning and security best practices.

• Excellent coordination and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications in PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Microsoft SQL Server.

• Experience in cloud-based database environments.

• Prior work experience in large-scale enterprise setups.
