Qualification & Experience:

• Education: B.Tech / B.E in Electrical Power Engineering
  

• Experience:
  

  • Minimum 5 years in electrical utilities real-time operations of system control (expert level)
    

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in Oman-specific electrical utilities real-time system control
    

Job Purpose:

The primary objective of this role is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the control room for power and distribution dispatch functions, in compliance with operational standards and tender requirements (Tender 34/2023).

Key Responsibilities:

• Take full charge of control room activities during the shift for power and distribution dispatch functions.
  

• Guide and supervise shift duty personnel where available.
  

• Plan and coordinate operations, including preparation of switching programs, operational risk analysis, and decision-making.
  

• Prepare and submit short-term load forecasts, unconstrained and constrained dispatch schedules, and planned load profiles of power stations.
  

• Implement and maintain robust emergency contingency plans.
  

• Prevent operational disturbances through timely planning and decision-making.
  

• Execute SCADA operations, including equipment commissioning, maintenance coordination, and troubleshooting.
  

• Ensure compliance with Scheduling and Dispatching Code, Metering Code, Automatic Generation and Control, and Reactive/Active Power Dispatch.
  

• Manage dispatch of power production facilities and load to ensure reliable and economic generation in line with BSA, PPA, Load Management, and industry standards.
  

• Coordinate real-time power and load management with IPPs, Gencos, Discos, Water Departments, and external utilities.
  

• Monitor, analyze, and adjust dispatch in real time to ensure operational reliability; analyze line flows and power exchanges.
  

• Verify monthly outage statistics for invoicing purposes (OPWP).
  

• Review approved short notice and planned outages and provide final clearance.
  

• Control issuance of safety documents, permits to work, access limitations, and sanctions for testing.
  

• Share expertise, coach colleagues, and support the professional development of LDC engineers, trainees, and other personnel.
  

• Conduct detailed operational incident investigations, prepare reports, and perform root cause analysis.
  

• Prepare daily operational reports and other reports as required.
