Job Description - Accounting Director

Our team is seeking a highly experienced full time Accounting Director in the ecommerce industry to join us!

We are a startup bookkeeping and tax service that has built a team of Filipino bookkeepers to fulfill the bookkeeping service of our US-based operation. Our goal is to be one of the leaders in the ecommerce industry for financials, and we want you to be an integral part of that growth!

The ideal candidate thrives on responsibility and is driven for success. You will be required to train and mentor the bookkeepers while optimizing operations and workflows. If you're great at dissecting complex bookkeeping scenarios, enjoy creative problem-solving, and aren't afraid to integrate traditional bookkeeping methodology with AI and software advances...you will fit right in!

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must get excited about finances/accounting and enjoy motivating others
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related industry
  • 5 years of experience working with Quickbooks. Experience with Xero is a plus
  • 3 years successful experience managing teams
  • Experience in ecommerce bookkeeping and accounting
  • Experience handling Controller tasks such as bill pay, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll, and training others on these areas
  • Experience handling Amazon or 3PL reimbursements
  • Experience using A2X or Link My Books
  • Experience with inventory-based businesses and US sales tax
  • Excellent written and verbal communication. English with clients, and Tagalog / English with Filipino workers
  • Expert at managing client relationships, showing empathy, and solving problems
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Exclusive to our clients. No outside clients.
  • High speed internet and newer computer
  • Professional camera and microphone for Zoom calls

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience with VAT and other various taxes
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of online tools such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Slack, ClickUp, and Financial Cents

INITIAL JOB ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overseeing operations on the bookkeeping team
  • Training of new hires and ongoing coaching on all bookkeeping areas (including reconciliation of Amazon statements, posting journal entries, reconciliation of account balances, and general ledger accounts for our clients, and clean up of messy, incorrect, and unreconciled books for clients, etc)
  • Building out a bookkeeping dream team (hire A-player bookkeepers to replace underperforming bookkeepers, continual development of bookkeepers' skills, teach them to become "financial detectives" who investigate and resolve issues)
  • Ensuring the highest quality standards are being met across the entire bookkeeping team (develop thorough quality standards that reflect our Core Values, and own the "buck stops here" mentality when resolving client issues)
  • Seeing to it that all books are wrapped up and financials sent out by our monthly deadline (build out and maintain tracking systems to support this)
  • Championing systems literacy and adoption (master our current systems and stay ahead of the curve in adopting new tools)
  • Continuously improving the way work gets done (model best practices, stay aware of new trends in the industry, monitor reporting to identify inefficiency trends on the team, spot-check and shadow bookkeepers to identify what weaknesses need shored up)
  • Fostering a sense of community and engagement amongst the bookkeeping team (get creative with strategies to build trust and camaraderie, encourage a culture of innovation, motivate bookkeepers to propose and implement creative solutions)

COMPENSATION AND HOURS

8 hour shifts, Tuesday-Saturday (40hr/wk), based on Philippine timezone.

Starting Pay: 105,000-160,000 PHP, based on experience
