Job Description - Chief Operating Officer

1.Operational Oversight

Managing and coordinating daily activities within the supply chain and plant/production departments to ensure smooth operations.

2.Supply Chain Management

Overseeing end-to-end supply chain activities, including planning/forecasting, procurement, warehouse

and logistics, and inventory management.

3.Supply Chain Optimization

Overseeing the end-to-end supply chain to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize costs.

Strategic alignment and decision making on product source to supply with customers (in house production (plant)

vs outsourcing)

Weigh the benefits and costs of manufacturing products internally versus partnering with external supplier partners to consider factors like cost-effectiveness, production and inventory control etc.

4.Plant Management

Managing and optimizing production processes all plants to meet quality standards, plant/production schedules, preventive maintenance and customer demands (internal and external)

Operationalizes Marketing demand while optimizing resources and maintaining cost-effectiveness.

5.Quality Assurance

Implementing and monitoring quality control processes to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards.

Ensuring product quality through effective quality control measures and continuous improvement initiatives.

6.Vendor and Supplier Management

Establishing and managing relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring a reliable supply chain.

7.Process Optimization

Identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements in the supply chain and plant operations.

8.Capacity Planning

Assessing plant and outsourcing capacities and planning of current product portfolio for scalability to meet growing demands.

Execution of product launches with new capacities

9.Cost Management

Implementing cost-effective strategies in the supply chain and plant operations while maintaining quality standards.

10.Inventory Management and Control

Monitoring, managing and optimizing inventory levels, to balance the cost of carrying inventory, anticipating demand fluctuations, and ensuring adequate stock levels to meet customer needs.

11.Risk Mitigation

Identifying and mitigating risks related to supply chain disruptions, plant operations - delays, and quality issues.

12.Technology Integration

Leveraging technology and data automation to enhance supply chain visibility, optimize plant processes, and improve overall efficiency.

13.Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams

Working closely with CFO and CCO to ensure seamless coordination between Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Plants and other relevant functions

14.Continuous Improvement

Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency gains and implementing changes to enhance operational efficiency on an ongoing basis.

15.Compliance

Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols in supply chain and plant operations.

16.Resource Allocation

Optimizing the allocation of resources, including labor rightsizing, equipment, and materials, to meet set targets.

17.Problem Resolution

Addressing and resolving day-to-day operational challenges in both the supply chain and plant operations.

18.Performance Monitoring

Dashboard Monitoring - key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of supply chain and plant operations.

19.Strategic Planning:

Collaborate with CEO to develop and implement strategic plans that align with company’s goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy Implementation: Lead the implementation of sales and commercial strategies to achieve organizational objectives.

Policy Definition: Define and uphold commercial policies, ensuring alignment with the annual budget.

Data Analysis: Dive into data and reports to provide valuable insights for achieving company objectives.

Financial Monitoring: Present comprehensive financial reports, particularly focused on sales, to the c-suite. Strong math skills are a plus!

Team Leadership: Oversee and guide a dynamic team, providing beneficial instructions and advice.

Process Oversight: Contribute insights when teams are developing new processes, and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

Employment Decisions: Have a say in hiring and termination decisions within your team.

Product Launches: Lead the charge in launching new products or services, collaborating with marketing and relevant departments.

Customer Satisfaction: Use customer feedback to shape practices for the sales and marketing teams.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within commercial or sales functions.
  • With experience in packaging industry
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Exceptional team management and guidance abilities.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate across departments for successful product launches.
  • A track record of improving customer satisfaction through strategic initiatives.
