The Role

Willis Towers Watson is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our DevOps team.

We are looking for the very best talent, and if you are passionate about what you do and welcome new challenges, we want to meet you as a full-time member of our DevOps team, you will be responsible for automating build and software configuration management related tasks. You will also be responsible for building out our continuous integration platform across several Willis Towers Watson software products.

This role will work closely with both Software Development and IT Operations groups to ensure that the final releases are up to organizational standards and are released successfully without negative impact to our customers. This position reports to the Manila DevOps and SRE Manager.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and support high-quality in-house software build systems for Enterprise class software
  • Automate scripts to deploy software in an automated process.
  • Provide design, implementation guidance and tutoring as necessary to other team members in best practices, tool use, and configuration management principals.
  • Management and creation of configuration for internal customers responsible for scheduling and or deployment to Quality Assurance and development Integration environments.
  • Management and creation of configuration items for non-Production environments to support Software Development Life Cycle development for internal customers; responsible for scheduling and deploying to Quality Assurance and development Integration environments.
  • Designing, training, and implementing source code control management best practices.
  • Develop and maintain our internal release management process.
  • Creation and maintenance of an automated build/release scripts and plans.
  • Works independently and within project teams to provide guidance and recommendations to business stakeholders and management for risk remediation.
  • Communicate effectively with members of software development and other project related groups to ensure processes and project objectives are met.
  • Contribute and review ongoing improvements of the implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for Software Configuration Management.
  • Provide guidance and tutoring as necessary to other team members in best practices, tool use, and software configuration management principals.
  • Responsible for scheduling and deploying to QA, Staging and Production environments.
  • Requires after-hours release support, so a flexible time schedule is required.
  • Contribute to updating the product’s knowledgebase and creating new documentation as needed.

The Requirements

  • Experience building.NET applications using build tools like Team City, TFS Build, and MS Build, or similar tools (AZDO, GitHub, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Experience using a scripting language such as PowerShell, Bash, Perl or Python, VBScript.
  • Familiarity with Version Control Systems (AZDO, Git, GitHub, TFS, SVN, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Windows Server platforms.
  • Familiarity with change management systems (JIRA, ServiceNow) and processes (ITIL) or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of N-tier web applications.
  • Capability to support a software development teams’ timelines and targets.
  • Capability and desire to be a strong team player.
  • Experience establishing standards and procedures and advocate best practices.
  • Familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical, creative, adaptable, resourceful, innovative, and imaginative and fun.
  • Strong problem-solving skills required, and ability to follow through to completion.
  • Customer focused and commitment to best-in-class processes and procedures.
  • On-call availability during off hours and weekends.

The following requirements are not required, but are a plus:

  • Experience as a DevOps/SCM engineer, building/deploying .Net applications or in a position with similar skill sets and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of Desired State Configuration technologies (Puppet, Chef, SCCM/SMS, etc.)
  • Familiarity with principles of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery Concepts (CI/CD).
  • Knowledge with Agile or SCRUM Methodology.
  • Familiarity with Networking Concepts.
  • Experience with supporting IaaS and PaaS software implementations in the cloud (Azure, AWS etc.)
  • Experience with Cloud Native applications and tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.)
  • ITIL Certification.
  • Any of the Azure Certification:
    • AZ-104 Microsoft Azure Administrator Certification
    • AZ-303 Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies
    • AZ-304 Microsoft Azure Architect Design
    • AZ-400 Designing and Implementing Microsoft DevOps Solutions
    • AZ-500 Microsoft Azure Security Technologies

Education/Experience:

  • BS or BA Degree, preferably in Computer Science and 3+ year’s related experience; or equivalent combination of education and or experience required.
