Network Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

1. Network Design and Implementation:
   • Design, configure, and deploy network infrastructure based on business requirements and industry best practices.
   • Select appropriate hardware, software, and protocols to support network operations efficiently.
   • Install, upgrade, and maintain network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
2. Network Security:
   • Implement and maintain security measures to protect the network from unauthorized access, cyber threats, and malware.
   • Configure firewalls, VPNs (Virtual Private Networks), and intrusion detection/prevention systems to safeguard data and privacy.
   • Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and respond to security incidents promptly.
3. Network Monitoring and Optimization:
   • Monitor network performance, availability, and reliability using network monitoring tools.
   • Identify and troubleshoot network issues, such as bandwidth bottlenecks, latency, and packet loss.
   • Optimize network configurations and protocols to improve performance and efficiency.
4. Network Documentation and Reporting:
   • Maintain accurate documentation of network topology, configurations, and changes.
   • Generate reports on network performance, capacity, and security posture for management review.
   • Develop and update network diagrams, diagrams, and procedures for internal reference.
5. Collaboration and Support:
   • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, developers, and security analysts, to integrate network services with other IT systems.
   • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and IT staff for network-related issues.
   • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to network emergencies outside regular business hours.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Professional certifications such as CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional), or equivalent.
• Proven experience in network design, implementation, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments.
• In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
• Familiarity with network security principles, tools, and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of cloud networking concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
• Experience with network automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible) is desirable.
• Familiarity with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and virtualization technologies is advantageous.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and stay updated with industry trends and advancements.
