    Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
    The Principal Knowledge Management Specialist position is assigned to the Office of the Principal Director, DOCK (DCOD) within the Department of Communications and Knowledge Management (DOCK). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.

    You will report to the Advisor, DCOD, and will supervise National Staff and Administrative Staff.

    DOCK is undergoing an internal reorganization. While the position is assigned to the Office of the Principal Director (DCOD), it may be reassigned as needed.

    Your Role
    As Principal Knowledge Management Specialist you will lead ADB’s corporate innovation hub. This role is pivotal in driving forward ADB’s corporate special innovation initiatives, supporting interdisciplinary thought leadership, and promoting innovation across the organization. Besides excellent managerial, strategic skills, and experience working with innovation hubs, you need deep expertise in innovation management, and organizational transformation specifically design thinking, futures thinking and foresight, systems thinking, behavioral change, and targeted innovation activities.

    You will:
    • Manage and lead the organizational innovation hub, serving as the primary point of contact for all corporate innovation-related activities.
    • Develop and implement strategies to support corporate initiatives through replicable and scalable innovative approaches.
    • Apply knowledge in climate change, gender equality, and private sector development to ADB’s innovation efforts in the innovation hub.
    • Foster a culture of creativity and innovation within the organization, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing.
    • Provide guidance and support to teams to enhance the use of innovation tools to add value to project design and implementation.
    • Utilize design thinking methodologies to identify user needs, prototype solutions, and iterate based on feedback.
    • Incorporate futures thinking and foresight techniques in relevant business processes, projects, and programs to anticipate future trends and challenges, guiding strategic decision-making.
    • Apply systems thinking principles to help teams understand complex problems and develop interdisciplinary and integrated solutions.
    • Drive behavioral change initiatives and innovation management applied learning to promote innovation adoption and acceptance across all levels of the organization.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to leverage expertise and resources in support of innovation efforts.
    • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in innovation management, especially in the public sector continuously seeking opportunities for improvement and growth.

    • Provide leadership, supervision, and support to reporting staff.
    • Ensure the ongoing learning and development of reporting staff.

    Qualifications

    You will need:
    • Master’s degree, or equivalent in innovation management, knowledge management, social sciences, development, or other relevant fields; or University degree in related fields and at least 5 years specialized experience relevant to the position can be considered.
    • At least 12 years of relevant professional experience, including international work experience working on innovation management in several countries, deep country experience in Asia and the Pacific is a benefit.
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results.
    • Excellent written and verbal English communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others.
    • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of ambiguity.
    • Outcome orientation combined with excellence in people and team building skills, a people manager.
